How to Choose the Right SWIR Wavelength: A Fast Engineering Guide from 1000 nm la 2000 nm
Designing an InGaAs camera system, hyperspectral sorting machine, or medical sensing device? One key question determines system contrast: which SWIR wavelength best matches the target material?
At Shenzhen Yingfeng Optoelectronics, we supply industrial multi-wavelength SWIR LED solutions. Here is a practical starting point for matching your application to the right spectral band:
🔹 1050–1100 nm — Silicon wafer inspection
Silicon becomes increasingly transparent near and above its band-edge region around 1100 nm. This range can support through-silicon inspection, helping reveal internal microcracks and solar-cell defects.
🔹 1300–1450 nm — Moisture detection and agricultural sorting
Water absorption rises strongly toward 1450 nm. This band can help identify hidden bruising in fruit, assess soil moisture, and monitor industrial drying processes. Areas with higher moisture often appear darker.
🔹 1550 nm — Plastic recycling and eye-safer active sensing
1550 nm is widely used for polymer identification, including PET, PP, and HDPE sorting, as well as chemical verification and active-sensing systems. It can offer a better eye-safety margin than shorter near-infrared wavelengths, subject to full system-level safety evaluation.
🔹 1650–2000 nm — Hydrocarbon and advanced chemical sensing
This range can target C–H and N–H overtone absorption features, making it relevant for lipids, oils, gases, and deeper chemical or biomedical analysis.
Still deciding which wavelength to use? Yingfeng specializes in multi-wavelength integrated COB modules. We can integrate multiple SWIR chips—such as 1050 nm, 1300 nm, 1450 nm, şi 1550 nm—on a single thermally optimized ceramic substrate.
Available wavelength range: 1000–2000 nm
Beam angles: 20°, 30°, 60°, and 120°
Configurations: Dome and flat options
Reliability: Calibrated under continuous-wave operation at Tc = 25°C
Stop guessing wavelengths. Work directly with a China-based manufacturer that understands optoelectronic data sheets.
Tell us your target material, and our optical engineers can recommend the most suitable SWIR spectral range.
